Yes, since SoCal/LA is all very spread apart we recommend having the flexibility to move around more easily with a car. However, LA does have a metro link that runs from downtown LA to Glendora.
Yes there are quiet a few options right in Glendora and in the surrounding cities. However, Glendora can be a bit sleepy which is why we have selected a hotel closer to Pasadena where there are many more things to do.

We are all attending the horse races at Santa Anita Park 5 minutes from the hotel. The first horse race starts at 1pm but we will be there a bit before hand to grab our seats and drinks.
Newport Beach and Huntington Beach are about 45 minutes to and hour driving. Also Santa Monica State Beach is 1 hour west.
